Meta AI research team releases Llama 2 and Code Llama models
Meta AI has recently released an updated version of its large language model (LLM), called Llama 2, alongside Code Llama, a family of LLMs optimized for code generation.
Llama 2 includes a series of pretrained and fine-tuned LLMs ranging in size up to 70B parameters. Additionally, Meta has made available fine-tuned chat models based on Llama 2.
The researchers have made these models publicly available to encourage further research and development in the field of natural language processing (NLP). Meta AI's goal is to advance the state-of-the-art in NLU by providing researchers with access to powerful and versatile language models.
In a recent blog post, Meta AI research scientist, Guillaume Lample, explained the motivation behind the development of Llama 2:
