Early Runs And Jansens Ejection Key In Sox Win

Red Sox's Offensive Outburst Leads to Victory Over Yankees

Early Runs and Jansen's Ejection Key in Sox Win

Boston's bats came alive in the Bronx as they defeated their rivals, the New York Yankees, 8-4, on Monday night.

The Red Sox offense was on fire early, scoring eight runs in the first two innings. Triston Casas led the charge with a solo home run in the first inning, and Rafael Devers added a two-run double in the second. Xander Bogaerts and Kyle Schwarber also went deep, hitting home runs off Yankees ace Gerrit Cole.

The Yankees' pitching staff struggled to contain the Red Sox hitters, allowing 13 hits and eight walks. Cole gave up four runs in just 3 1/3 innings, while his bullpen was unable to stop the bleeding. The Red Sox drew seven walks off Yankees pitchers, including three by Schwarber.

In the top of the fifth inning, Red Sox reliever Kenley Jansen was ejected from the game after hitting Yankees catcher Kyle Higashioka with a pitch. Jansen was visibly upset and had to be restrained by manager Alex Cora. The ejection seemed to fire up the Red Sox, as they scored three more runs in the inning to take a commanding 8-1 lead.
