Ibn Firnas was born in 810 AD in Ronda, Andalucia. He studied in Cordoba, which was a major center of learning during the Islamic Golden Age. Ibn Firnas was a brilliant student, and he excelled in a wide range of subjects, including medicine, philosophy, and astronomy.

Contributions to Aviation

Ibn Firnas is considered one of the most important pioneers of aviation. He invented the flying machine, which was a glider-like device made of wood and fabric. In 875 AD, Ibn Firnas made an attempt to fly his machine from a tower in Cordoba. Although he did not succeed in achieving sustained flight, his attempt was a major milestone in the history of aviation.

Ibn Firnas continued to make significant contributions to science and literature throughout his life. He wrote several books on a variety of subjects, and he also invented a number of other devices, including a water clock and a mechanical astrolabe.
